Quality Assurance Manager

The Quality Assurance Manager plays a crucial role as the primary leader of the quality team at the site. This position is responsible for ensuring that all products produced at the facility are safe , in compliance with company, customer, and regulatory standards, and consistently meet quality standards . The individual in this role will offer valuable analytical insights, oversee program maintenance and implementation at the site, and use their expertise in product and process knowledge to collaborate effectively with Manufacturing, Product Development, Supply Chain, and Customer Service teams.
Essential Functions
Quality Program Execution and Maintenance
Collaborate with the food quality and food safety teams at the site to apply and update Food Safety and Food Quality plans and programs.
Implement operational excellence processes to drive quality initiatives and changes.
Maintain the site in a state that is ready for audits at all times.
Compliance, KPIs, and Operational Excellence
Take responsibility for maintaining quality performance and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by auditing, executing, and following up.
Show ability to prioritize non-conformances and key factors affecting KPIs.
Assign tasks for containment, correction, and prevention; conduct root cause analysis and effective quality reviews, including specification reviews.
Incorporate operational excellence principles into daily operations.
Talent Management and Development
Offer technical guidance and leadership to a strong quality team .
Work with different groups to implement structured onboarding processes across the site.
Coordinate ongoing training programs to enhance team capabilities and success.
Systems, Culture, and Issue Management
Instill a Culture of Quality and Systems by promoting the use of system tools and skill development within the team.
Ensure that food safety, quality, and customer issues are reported promptly for proper action and resource allocation.
Lead the preparation for customer visits and external audits.
Strategic Partnership
Collaborate with site leaders and teams from various departments to align goals, decision-making, and training needs.
Support functions like Supply Chain, Learning and Development, and Commercialization as required.

Develop and supervise the performance of the quality team at the site. Establish strong relationships across functions and influence site strategy & execution. Foster a culture of quality enhancement; provide and maintain ongoing training focused on food safety and quality. Systems
Ensure effective application of site Product Safety, Product Quality, and prerequisite systems . Ensure seamless integration with change control and commercialization processes. Demonstrate keen problem-solving skills to prevent issues from recurring through effective control measures. Performance
Identify and address key areas with the most positive impact on KPIs (e.g., Inspection / Compliance, First Pass Quality, Complaints, Disposals, Inventory Health, CAPA closure). Provide timely responses to customers, inspectors, and auditors. Collaborate on new product / customer introductions to assess success potential and communicate risks and solutions. ERP / LIMS
Become proficient in handling ERP and LIMS systems at the site.
Knowledge & Experience
Experience working in an FDA-regulated environment , preferably in the food or dietary supplement industry.
Ability to identify and mitigate food safety, regulatory, and cost-related risks.
Proficiency in applying sanitation principles.
Demonstrated success as a skilled project manager , capable of prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
Experience with CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) and Customer Complaint systems implementation.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education : Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
Experience : 2+ years of experience in the food, supplement, or related industry.
Skills :
Experience in Team Leadership
Experience in Project Management & Change Management
Familiarity with FDA regulations.
Familiarity with a GFSI Scheme (e.g., SQF, BRC).
Certification : PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification is mandatory.
Physical : Ability to lift 50 lbs; required to stand, walk, sit, and reach.
