Summary of the Position:

The shipping clerk is responsible for shipping, recording and controlling all shipping documents and orders internally and externally.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Records and controls all shipping documents.
• Ships orders through the Warehouse Management System (WMS)/QAD.
• Calls carriers for pick-ups.
• Interacts with internal and external customers.
• Ensures that orders are being communicated to the wave planner when carriers show up for pick-up.
• Ensures carriers sign bill of lading correctly.
• Prepares daily work orders for Operations.
• Maintains clean work area at all times. Helps staff in cleaning efforts as directed by department supervisor. General office activities and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
• Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality.
• Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management.
• Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills and information within assigned team and across functional areas.
• Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two plus years of experience with shipping and receiving documentation required.
• Material handling equipment certification preferred.
• Good math skills required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Warehouse Management System(WMS).
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds.
