ExoAnalytic Solutions develops advanced algorithms, AI / ML solutions, and software tools for modeling, simulation, sensing, and decision support across space and missile defense systems. ExoAnalytic Solutions is seeking an AI Machine Learning Engineer – Space & Missile Defense to join a multidisciplinary team developing advanced machine learning–driven capabilities for sensing, tracking, decision-making, and battle management. This role focuses on the design, development, integration, and evaluation of AI / ML algorithms within modeling, simulation, and operational decision-support environments. The ideal candidate is comfortable working at the intersection of AI / ML, algorithms, and complex physical systems, and enjoys translating operational challenges into deployable AI-enabled solutions.
This position is well suited for engineers who want to apply modern AI / ML techniques—such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, probabilistic reasoning, and multi-agent systems—to real-world aerospace and defense problems, while collaborating closely with systems engineers, analysts, and domain experts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, develop, and evaluate AI / ML algorithms for space and missile defense applications, including sensing, tracking, classification, prediction, and decision-makingImplement machine learning solutions within modeling and simulation environments, analytical tools, and prototype operational systemsDevelop and train models using supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning techniquesIntegrate AI / ML components with physics-based models, simulations, and system-level architecturesAnalyze AI / ML performance, limitations, uncertainty, and robustness in operationally relevant scenariosCollaborate with systems engineers, analysts, and domain experts to translate mission needs into AI / ML-driven solutionsSupport experimentation, test campaigns, and algorithm trade studies using simulated and real-world dataDocument algorithms, assumptions, data requirements, and performance results for technical and non-technical stakeholdersContribute to technical planning, architecture decisions, and proposal development as neededManage individual tasks and deliverables while contributing to team-level technical decision-makingMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Strong foundation in machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts, including model development, training, validation, and evaluationProficiency in Python for AI / ML development; experience with C++ or similar languages is a plusExperience with modern ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, or similar)Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, or integrating AI / ML algorithms into software systems or simulationsUnderstanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, model evaluation, and performance metricsExperience using version control systems (e.g., Git) in a collaborative development environmentAbility to reason about algorithm tradeoffs, assumptions, uncertainty, and failure modesAbility to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiencesEligibility to obtain a Secret clearanceExcellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skillsWorking proficiency in verbal and written EnglishPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Active Secret or Top-Secret clearanceAdvanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related fieldExperience in aerospace, defense, missile defense, space systems, or national security applicationsExperience with reinforcement learning, multi-agent systems, or decision-theoretic methodsExperience integrating AI / ML with modeling & simulation, digital twins, or physics-based environmentsFamiliarity with sensor-related AI / ML applications (e.g., EO / IR or RF detection, tracking, fusion, and classification)Experience with uncertainty quantification, probabilistic modeling, or statistical inferenceExperience with high-performance computing, GPU acceleration, or large-scale training workflowsFamiliarity with containerization, reproducible ML pipelines, or MLOps conceptsExperience supporting algorithm-heavy systems such as battle management, autonomy, decision aids, or command-and-control toolsSALARY RANGE
$115,000 - $190,000+ annually.
Actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations : job-related knowledge and skills, education, and years of experience.
