General Summary:

This executive will architect scalable platforms, modernize legacy systems, and integrate intelligent technologies to elevate customer experience, developer productivity, and operational agility.

This role demands a visionary leader who can simultaneously manage multiple Priority 1 programs, drive speed of execution, and deliver measurable business impact, including successful delivery of GenAI-powered solutions.

Job Specifications

• 15+ years in senior infrastructure leadership roles, ideally within high-scale environments (e.g., cloud-native, distributed systems, mainframe, global platforms).
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven success leading enterprise-scale application-to-cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
• Deep experience in transforming legacy systems through re-platforming, refactoring, and hybrid integration.
• Demonstrated success delivering GenAI-powered solutions in production environments, with measurable impact on operations and customer experience.
• Familiarity with cloud contact center platforms and AI-enhanced customer service tools.
• Experience building internal platforms that improve developer velocity and infrastructure reliability.
• Proven ability to design and operate multi-region, globally distributed systems.
• Deep experience with IaC, CI/CD pipelines, and automated provisioning.
• Strong command of SLOs, SLAs, and telemetry tools.
• Demonstrated success in cloud cost optimization and strategic investment planning.
• Strong executive presence with technical depth.
• Proven ability to lead through high-pressure incidents with clarity and resolve.
• Track record of attracting, developing, and retaining top-tier engineering talent.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Define and execute a bold, multi-year infrastructure strategy aligned with enterprise goals and digital transformation.
• Lead modernization of legacy systems, including mainframe re-platforming, refactoring, and integration with cloud-native architectures.
• Drive enterprise-wide application-to-cloud migrations, ensuring scalability, security, and cost optimization.
• Design and operate multi-region, globally distributed infrastructure with high availability and fault tolerance.
• Champion sustainable infrastructure practices, including energy efficient architecture and carbon-aware workload placement.
• Define and manage SLA and SLOs to balance reliability with innovation.
• Drive a metrics-driven culture using telemetry, observability, and performance analytics.
• Manage infrastructure budgets with rigor, optimizing spend and prioritizing investments with measurable ROI.
• Lead cloud cost optimization initiatives including rightsizing, reserved instances, and workload rebalancing.
• Oversee infrastructure support for next-generation contact center platforms, including cloud-based telephony, omnichannel routing, and AI-powered agent assist.
• Integrate customer service technologies with enterprise systems to improve responsiveness and customer experience.
• Successfully deliver GenAI-powered solutions across business domains.
• Embed GenAI capabilities into infrastructure to enable intelligent automation, predictive analytics, and AI-powered developer tools.
• Partner with data, engineering, and product teams to operationalize LLMs and AI agents across infrastructure and platform services.
• Simultaneously lead multiple Priority 1 programs with urgency, clarity, and accountability.
• Act as the escalation point for major incidents, providing decisive leadership during outages and disruptions.
• Oversee multiple infrastructure teams; foster a culture of speed, agility, and resilience across teams.
• Bring fresh ideas, emerging technologies, and modern infrastructure engineering practices from Silicon Valley, startups, and global tech companies.
• Foster a culture of experimentation, rapid prototyping, and continuous learning.
• Stay ahead of industry trends and translate external innovation into enterprise-scale solutions.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$202,200.00-$415,100.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
