The Technology Manager is responsible for the overall administration of PSRSSTL's technology devices and
systems. This includes collection and maintenance of member data, the application programs used to analyze and
present it, the proper functioning of the data management systems on which it resides and running processes related
to administration of the Retirement Plan. This individual performs planning and administrative duties and technical
work of considerable specialization. The work requires the exercise of independent judgment. The incumbent
receives general direction from the Executive Director
Primary Duties: (other duties may be assigned)
Technology
1. Performs computer programming and system analysis and design functions for the retirement system's
existing application programs.
2. Performs computer programming and system analysis and design functions and evaluates existing
commercial solutions to develop new programs to address System's business needs.
3. Works with external technology provider on data security and to coordinate hardware and software
maintenance and replacement, as needed.
4. Performs database administration to assure that the System's data files remain secure and accessible.
5. Establishes and executes procedures to assure that data is appropriately backed up and are in place to
protect data integrity.
6. Assesses emerging technology for its application to System's needs.
7. Works closely with all staff members to assure that the most appropriate solution is used to fulfill
technology needs.
8. Implements hardware and software resources and resolves computer, network, and telecommunications
problems.
9. Defines the technology requirements necessary to meet business process needs.
10. Maintains the PSRSSTL website.
11. Oversees maintenance and operation of PSRSSTL security systems, including alarms and cameras.
dministration and Coordination
1. Coordinates the technology interaction with partner systems to collect accurate member information.
2. Manages the purchase of technology products and services within the System's public procurement
guidelines.
3. Manages technology projects and directs and coordinates the activities of technology consultants.
4. Works with equipment, software, and service vendors to achieve System goals.
5. Recommends and coordinates technology enhancements within retirement system in consultation with
other managers and administrators.
6. Establishes and executes procedures to assure that the System's regulatory requirements are met.
7. Maintains and executes the System's disaster recovery program.
8. Assures that PSRSSTL software is properly licensed.
