FINANCIAL CONTROLLER -ELITE MANAGEMENT
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a strategic Financial Controller to lead our accounting function and serve as a key business partner to our CEO and executive team. As our company expands across multiple states, we need a financial leader who can scale our systems, ensure compliance across jurisdictions, provide actionable insights, and build the infrastructure to support our continued growth. This role combines hands-on financial management with strategic planning and will directly influence our expansion decisions and operational efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Leadership & Strategy Serve as the senior financial executive, providing strategic guidance to the CEO on profitability, cash flow, expansion opportunities, and risk management. Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process across all locations and business units. Develop key performance indicators and financial dashboards that enable data-driven decision making. Analyze unit economics by location to identify high-performing markets and opportunities for improvement. Evaluate the financial viability of new market expansion, acquisitions, or service line additions.
Accounting Operations & Compliance Oversee all accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll accounting, job costing, and financial reporting. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Team Management & Development Lead and develop the existing accounting team, providing mentorship, training, and clear performance expectations. Build scalable processes and systems that can support the company through its next phase of growth. Identify skill gaps and recruit additional team members as needed. Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
Systems & Process Improvement Evaluate and optimize our accounting systems, recommending upgrades or new platforms as we scale. Implement job costing and reporting systems that provide real-time visibility into project and technician profitability. Streamline financial processes to improve efficiency and reduce month-end close time. Integrate field service management software with accounting systems for seamless data flow.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred). Minimum 7-10 years progressive accounting experience with at least 3-5 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role. Proven experience managing multi-location or multi-state operations. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. Experience with construction, trades, or field service businesses (plumbing, HVAC, electrical) highly preferred. Demonstrated success building and leading accounting teams. Advanced proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Enterprise, NetSuite, or similar) and Excel. Experience with job costing and project-based accounting. Multi-state tax compliance knowledge. Track record of implementing process improvements and system upgrades.
