Field Supervisor/Maintenance (Outdoors)

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION

Provide leadership and supervision of facilities, activities and events at City of Oak Park Recreation functions.

REPORTS TO: Recreation Coordinator

DESCRIPTION

• Supervise fields and participants by enforcing program and field rules, policies and regulations.
• Ensure fields remain in excellent condition before and through activities.
• Remain visible and available throughout competitions; resolve problems that may arise.
• Respond to participants and spectators in a calm, assertive manner; document and report relevant information to the recreation coordinator.
• Follow written and verbal instructions.
• Communicate and work effectively with coworkers, staff, diverse groups of people and the general public.
• Submit score sheets and standings to the recreation coordinator.
• Supervise umpire and referees.
• Distribute program related items to teams and parents.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Secure a substitute if unable to cover scheduled shift and notifies recreation coordinator of schedule substitutions prior to the change.
• May be asked to perform other duties related to the day-to-day operation of the department.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES

• Reasonable knowledge of computers and software applications and the ability to navigate through internet resources.
• Initiative and resourcefulness in problem resolution by looking up schedules and registrations.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with the public and other employees.
• Able to complete a city application and pass an oral interview.
• Must be physically able to perform work duties; including the ability to lift 50lbs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
• Must possess a valid State of Michigan driver's license

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS

• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

SALARY RANGE - This is a temporary/seasonal position (May through November) with an hourly minimum rate of $15.00 (with consideration given to experience)
