Staff Accountant (Early Career) – Kansas City, MO

About the Opportunity

A growing plumbing and mechanical services company in Kansas City is seeking an early-career Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations and financial reporting. This position is ideal for someone with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting who wants hands-on experience, strong mentorship, and long-term growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Perform general ledger entries and assist with month-end close

Prepare account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records

Support Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

Prepare financial statements and reports for leadership

Maintain organized documentation and ensure compliance with accounting procedures

Work with operations teams on billing, job costing, and invoicing

Participate in process improvements and ad hoc accounting projects

Qualifications

Required :

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

0–5 years of accounting experience (internships accepted)

Proficiency in Excel and understanding of GAAP

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Solid communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred : CPA or CPA-track

Experience with QuickBooks, job costing, or construction accounting

Background in field service, construction, or trades industries
