PT Psychology Instructor

Position Description

DEFINITION:

To provide classroom and/or online instruction to students using multiple teaching strategies and perform accurate assessment of student learning.

One position available at Surf City Campus to teach Tuesday/Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 8:20 a.m.One position available at Burgaw Campus to teach Monday/Wednesday 10:12 a.m. to 11:40 a.m.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

• Receives general supervision from Department Chair, Social Sciences
• Exercises no supervision.

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Prepare and execute lessons, lectures, activities, and exercises for seated and/or online settings.
• Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance. Grade and record individual scores.
• Grade and return assignments and post grades in a prompt manner.
• Provide prompt and appropriate professional correspondence to students and colleagues.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance. Maintain other records as required.

Other Important Functions:

• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

• Teaching techniques and procedures, including techniques using the internet and technology.
• Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment.
• Principles of test development and administration.

Ability To:

• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
• Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
• Communicating clearly and respectfully, both orally and in writing
• Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:Making observationsReading and writingCommunicating with othersOperating assigned equipmentHandling varied tasks simultaneously
• Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:Standing or sitting for extended periods of timeOperating assigned equipmentHandling varied tasks simultaneously Bending, stooping, climbing or lifting up to 50 pounds

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Minimum Education/Training:

A Master’s degree in psychology or 18 graduate hours in psychology

Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills:

• Willingness/availability to teach seated classes
• Knowledge of Blackboard Learning Management System
