Position Requirements

RN Requirements

2-5 years RN experience

1 year ED experience (within last year)

First-time travelers accepted with 3+ years ED experience

Required Certifications

BLS

ACLS

PALS

NIHSS

TNCC preferred

Required Skills

Strong general ED competencies

Strong IV skills

Cardiac rhythm interpretation

Foley & NG tube placement / management

STEMI, Stroke (CVA), & Sepsis protocols

Medication titration

High-volume patient flow experience

ED Tech Requirements (If Applicable)

1 year ED experience

BLS

Strong phlebotomy skills

Splinting (ortho glass)

EKGs, POC testing, specimen collection

Assist with tele monitors, mobility, and patient turning

Patient Ratios

RN : 1 : 3-4 (Days & Nights)

ED Techs : 2-4 per shift; 1 Tech from 0300-0700

Unit Support

Receptionist / HUC : 24 / 7

Charge Nurse : May take low-acuity assignment

ED Educator : Mon-Fri

Phlebotomy : Assists with draws

Flow Nurse : Peak hours

RT : 24 / 7

Hospitalist / PA : 24 / 7

Sitter / transporter coverage

Clinical Operations Tech

Telemetry monitored at bedside & nurse station (no tele tech)

Technology & Systems

EMR : EPIC (within last 2 years required)

Alaris IV pumps

Pyxis medication dispensing

Floating

Float based on facility needs

Travelers float first

Task-only roles when floating (no patient assignment) :

Sitters

Runners

Taskers

Orientation

First few hours : NEO onboarding with NM & supervisor

Remainder : On unit with preceptor

1 shift orientation

Scheduling Details

Shift Options :

Days : 0700-1900, 1100-2300

Evenings : 1500-0300

Nights : 1900-0700

Techs : 1900-0700 available

Schedule Cycle : 6 weeks; distributed 1-2 weeks prior

Weekend : Every other weekend

On-Call : None

Holiday : 1 required
