ABOUT THE ROLETheOutside Plant (OSP) Fiber Technicianwill perform complete inspection and acceptance of both aerial and underground placement and associated construction activities for any assigned OSP project.
This position will be covered by a collective bargaining agreement and is a union position. All candidates must be willing and able to sign on with the applicable union if hired.

Essential Functions
- Responsible for reading prints and understanding the fiber optic color code to install and test fiber cable in a variety of environments (underground, aerial)
- Operate fiber fusion splicing machines and a variety of different OTDR and power meters
- Install both aerial and underground splice closures, along with a variety of other closures common to the splicing and termination of fiber optic cables
- Will perform fiber testing utilizing OTDRs, Power Meter/Light Sources and VFLs
- Accurately record and document testing results per customer specifications
- Additional responsibilities as directed by the Foreman/Construction Manager
ABOUT YOUQualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required
- Preferred knowledge of both CWDM and DWDM networking including CWDM filter splicing
- Electrical construction experience preferred, both aerial and underground placement and associated construction activities
- Preferred knowledge of both CWDM and DWDM networking including CWDM filter splicing
- Electrical construction experience preferred
WHAT WE OFFERCompensation & Benefits
- This will be a union position.
- $27.28 – $35.07 per hour. Wage depends on experience and certifications, and benefits are detailed within the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

- An additional 15% of the wage scale is paid directly into your retirement account
- Five year vesting period on company-sponsored retirement account
