Responsibilities Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and we bring more than years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems. As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for a position.
The Unit Coordinator at Forest View Hospital manages the clerical functions of the nursing unit necessary to provide patient care.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Assists in the direct care and management of patients with medical and behavioral issues as directed by the treatment team.
- Assists with answering phone calls and communicating important information to the appropriate treatment team member.
- Assists with unit programming to facilitate leisure activities, and activities of daily living for patients on the unit.
- Monitors status of laboratory and other diagnostic tests ordered.
- Conducts chart audits daily to ensure presence of necessary documentation and treatment plan updates.
- Assists with documentation and monitoring of patient progress notes, group activity notes, and patient observation rounds.
- Responsible for filing paperwork, as needed.
- Assists in orienting new patients to the unit by completing admission procedures such as skin checks, body scans, and sorting through patient belongings.
- Assist with the training of new employees and re-education of current employees.
- Assist with stocking the unit of necessary medical and patient supplies.
- Respond to codes as they arise and assist in verbal de-escalation techniques as needed.

Qualifications Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year experience working with a psychiatric patient population.
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License.
