Job Summary The Conservatory of Music at Oberlin College invites applications for the position of Collaborative Pianist. This is a 12-month Administrative and Professional Staff appointment beginning on
February 2, 2026.
The Oberlin Conservatory of Music, founded in 1865, is the nation’s oldest continuously operating conservatory, and the only major music school in the country linked with a preeminent liberal arts college. Students are enrolled in undergraduate programs leading to the Bachelor of Music in performance, jazz studies, composition, technology in music and related arts, recording arts and production, music theater, and musicology. Oberlin also offers graduate programs leading to the Master of Music in conducting, the Master of Music in performance on historical instruments, the Master of Fine Arts in piano technology, and artist diplomas.
This position reports to Evan Hines, Assistant Professor of Collaborative Piano, and responsibilities include work during the academic year (including Winter Term) with instrumental majors or secondaries as assigned. Responsibilities
- Collaborative work as assigned, including masterclasses, recitals, and auditions.
- Accompanying students (up to 20) for weekly lessons and studio classes; assisting at juries and Conservatory-sponsored auditions and competitions, recital performances, masterclasses, accompanist for the Oberlin Musical Union, etc., as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Advanced degree in collaborative piano preferred or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated evidence of artistic accomplishment and exemplary technical keyboard skills.
- Fluency in sight-reading.
- Knowledge of diverse repertoire; and a lively intellectual and musical curiosity.
- Good organizational skills.
