Position Title: Account Executive – Freight Forwarding
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Classification: Exempt
Compensation: Base Salary + Car Allowance + Sales Commission (eligible upon initiation and attainment of new business).
Summary
A global logistics and freight forwarding company is looking for the Account Executive to join the team.
This organization focuses on collaborative growth and high-level service standards to maintain its competitive edge in the global market. The Account Executive will be responsible for collaborating closely with multiple regional offices to manage assigned accounts, develop brand-new business opportunities, and participate in strategic Requests for Quotation (RFQ) to expand market share.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Research, analyze, and identify business prospects through daily cold calling, web research, and networking to secure new business opportunities both locally and out of state.
- Establish and cultivate professional business relationships through face-to-face visitations with potential customers while maintaining strong ties with the current client base.
- Maximize profitability from assigned accounts by conducting periodical reviews of direct costs versus selling rates.
- Document all sales activities, leads, and client interactions accurately within the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
- Maintain effective communication with team members, overseas offices, and global agents concerning target and assigned accounts.
- Lead and participate in the RFQ process, collaborating with internal departments and other offices to ensure comprehensive and competitive submissions.
- Participate in weekly calls with management to review current activities, sales pipelines, and issues pertaining to assigned accounts.
- Monitor accounts receivable closely in coordination with the accounting department to ensure timely collections.
- Conduct business travel as necessary, which may include travel by car, domestic air travel, international air travel, and overnight stays.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a proactive sales professional with a deep understanding of the logistics landscape and a proven track record of territory growth. They should possess the following attributes:
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to represent the organization professionally during face-to-face meetings.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple accounts and RFQ deadlines simultaneously.
- A self-starter mindset with the discipline to manage a remote or field-based schedule effectively.
Required
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience within the Freight Forwarding industry.
- Local Knowledge: 3+ years of residency/work experience in Arizona to leverage local market insights.
- Technical Skills: Excellent literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Mobility: Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required by the business.
Preferred
- Proven experience in managing RFQs for large-scale logistics contracts.
- Existing network of contacts within the Phoenix metropolitan area business community.
