Entry Level Police Officer

The City of Auburn is seeking Entry Level Police Officers. This position is responsible for general police work involving the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, maintenance of order, and prevention and investigation of crimes.

Primary Duties

Some of the job duties and responsibilities include :

• Responding to emergency and routine calls for service.
• Performing computer inquiries from the patrol vehicle and stationary terminals.
• Documenting incidents and actions by writing reports, field interview cards, and daily logs.
• Patrolling assigned areas to provide an element of safety through obvious visibility.
• Acting as a primary investigator of all crimes occurring with assigned areas; making arrests when warranted.
• Pursuing fleeing suspects on foot and in vehicles; performing rescue and pursuit operations.
• Taking immediate action to remedy hazards and protect life and property.
• Investigating and / or handling complaints including, but not limited to, family disputes, juvenile disputes, and mentally challenged persons.
• Communicating effectively orally and in writing, even in court and other formal settings.
