Position Overview
Apex Skin is a dynamic and rapidly expanding dermatology practice, led by physicians who are dedicated to providing outstanding patient experiences. We are on the lookout for a skilled and enthusiastic Medical Assistant to enhance our team by supporting our healthcare providers with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. Responsibilities include rooming patients, assisting in dermatologic procedures, documenting in the EMR as a clinical scribe, promoting patient education, and carrying out front office tasks when necessary. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication abilities, clinical precision, attention to detail, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented atmosphere.
Schedule
- Full-time position, Monday through Friday [32 hours per week]
- One Saturday per month may be required for patient scheduling
- Daytime clinical hours, with occasional adjustments based on provider or patient needs.
Essential Functions
Guide patients to exam rooms, obtain vital signs, gather brief medical histories, and update medication listsPrepare exam rooms for scheduled procedures and anticipate the needs of the providers.Assist providers with biopsies, excisions, surgical procedures, and other dermatologic treatmentsScribe for providers during patient visits, accurately documenting notes, treatments, diagnoses, and patient instructions directly into the EMR in real time.Maintain and update patient records, charts, and EMR documentation to ensure compliance standards are metEducate patients about provider instructions, treatment plans, post-procedure care, and medication usageMonitor and complete lab documentation, biopsy / culture logs, phone encounters, and task queues in the EMRHandle clinical phone calls, follow up on biopsy results, and communicate with patients as directed by the providerPerform autoclave procedures, uphold sterility standards, and conduct quality control checksComplete assigned administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, scanning documents, answering phones, and processing prior authorizationsTravel to nearby Apex Skin locations as required to support clinical operations.Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Qualifications
Strong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to multitask, stay organized, and manage time effectivelyCustomer service mindset with professionalism and patient-focusProficiency in basic computer software, medical terminology, and EMR documentationAbility to accurately document clinical information as a scribe (training provided)2+ years of Medical Assistant experience preferred (dermatology experience is a plus)Active CMA, RMA, or Medical Assistant certification preferred or a willingness to obtain certificationBachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field preferred, but not requiredPrior clinical scribe experience is useful, but not mandatoryCareer Growth Opportunities

Employee Health & Safety Requirements :
All patient-facing employees are required to provide proof of a TB test within the past 12 months and an annual flu vaccination as part of Apex Skin's health and safety protocols. The Hepatitis B vaccination series is also strongly recommended for clinical staff due to potential occupational exposure risks.
