Behavior Intervention Implementation (BII) Aide

The Behavior Intervention Implementation (BII) Aide provides intensive, individualized behavioral support to scholars whose behaviors significantly interfere with learning, primarily through the consistent implementation of a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) or related behavior support plan. Working under the supervision of a Behavior Intervention Developer (BID), BCBA, or designated behavior specialist, the BII Aide delivers tier III interventions in general education and special education settings to help scholars access instruction and participate safely in the school community.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support the resource and general education teachers with the implementation of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for a specific scholar with special needs.
  • Monitor the behavior and interactions of the assigned scholar throughout the school day, maintaining close supervision during classroom and non-classroom activities.
  • Collect, record, and maintain behavioral data in accordance with the scholar's Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), ensuring accurate tracking of targeted behaviors, interventions, and progress for review by the BIP team.
  • Confer with Teachers regularly to assist in evaluating scholar progress and/or monitoring progress toward IEP goals and objectives.
  • Instruct the scholar on appropriate behavior and guidelines for acceptable social interaction.
  • Serve as a key staff member responsible for supporting the scholar's safety and wellbeing during the school day.
  • Assist teachers and other support staff with the preparation and/or presentation of learning materials, administration of tests, testing accommodations, and activities, and with monitoring scholar achievement.
  • Attend training related to a specific scholar's disability about best practices to assist the scholar.
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences and IEP meetings as requested by the Teacher, Case Manager or Principal.
  • Depending on the assignment, provide specialized health care support as outlined by state regulations.
  • Support documentation and tracking of services offered to the scholar by completing trackers, behavior logs, and other forms of documentation.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidates:

  • Belief: Hold the belief that all scholars, regardless of their economic or social demographics, deserve a quality education and can earn a four-year college degree.
  • Social Justice: Desire to work in systemically underserved communities in Los Angeles and be a part of Alliance's social justice mission by integrating anti-racist, pro-Black, scholar-centered instruction.
  • Culture: Demonstrate an ability to develop a positive, achievement-oriented, supportive, and collaborative culture of high expectations that motivates and inspires scholars to learn at college-preparatory levels.
  • Mindset: Hold a growth mindset and commit to continuously honing their craft.
  • Relationship-Building: Have strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with both children and adults.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Two years of college (48 semester units), or an Associate's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, or passing score on the CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test).
  • Willingness to complete specialized training related to the assigned scholar's specific disability/condition, as well as mandatory training with Los Angeles Unified School District.

Benefits:

In alignment with our commitment to equity for our scholars, Alliance is dedicated to promoting equity and transparency within our team, offering competitive salaries commensurate with experience, as well as generous retirement and health benefits. This position is Non-Exempt.

  • We strive to be the best employer possible by offering excellent benefits for our employees and their families. Please click HERE for more information about our health benefits, retirement options, as well as our paid holidays and leave.
  • Professional Development: At Alliance, we believe in supporting staff professional growth by providing substantial school-based and network-wide professional development support to staff.

Compensation: $23.25 - $28.23

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

Alliance College-Ready Public Schools is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, anti-racist, pro-Black community that celebrates diversity, equity, and the unique identities of all scholars and staff. Nearly two-thirds of our teachers and administrators identify as people of color, reinforcing our commitment to representation and the power of diverse role models. We recognize the richness of the cultures and communities we serve, and we believe that embracing and empowering these identities is essential to the success and pride of our scholars. Working at Alliance means joining a movement to drive transformative change, nurture resilience, and build lifelong, meaningful connections with scholars and their communities.

Champion Alliance's Anti-Racist, Pro-Black Mission: The strongest candidates will bring a commitment to Alliance's mission of building an anti-racist, pro-Black community that prioritizes the success and well-being of Black and Brown scholars. Candidates should have a passion for promoting equity through anti-racist, student-centered teaching practices that celebrate racial and cultural identities. This role is rooted in service to systemically underserved communities in Los Angeles, helping scholars graduate "college-ready" with pride in who they are.
