Hale Creek Correctional Facility is a medium security prison for men in need of RN's to assist with staffing on a temporary basis (up to 40 hours per week). This position provides coverage for vacant positions, and regular days off, sick days and vacation days for DOCCS nurses. it includes shift work between the hours of 6 : 30AM through 10 : 00PM, and requires availability to work weekends / Holidays. These individuals must be motivated to provide care to an incarcerated male population, be self-starters and able to operate semi-independently (physician on-call).

A minimum of one year of acute care RN experience (Medical / Surgical, ER, ICU), an annual TB test and CPR certification is required.

Compliance with all security directives is a must and the candidates must be dependable.

Previous experience / employment working in NYS DOCCS is a plus.

The Nurse's duties will include :

• assessing inmate and staff medical complaints
• taking off (noting) MD orders and prescriptions, entering lab work and creating requisitions
• administering medications
• end of shift narcotics, sharps and tool counts
• emergency sick call and emergency medical responses, utilize AED
• proficient with computers, Microsoft programs, and able to learn a DOS based program
• vaccinations
• wound care
• diabetic care
• inmate health teaching and evaluation

Initial estimated service dates are for 1 / 1 / 26 - 7 / 1 / 26, however services may be extended for up to a total of two years at the same rates upon mutual agreement between the hiring agency and awarded vendor(s).
