Respiratory Therapist - Registered Position Summary
Examines and treats patients with breathing-related conditions, performs diagnostic testing, and collaborates with physicians to develop and implement treatment plans. Provides patient education on therapies and medication use; performs physiotherapy and related treatments. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.

Patient Populations Served : Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult. Protected Health Information Accessed : Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. Exposure : Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens may be present. Physical Requirements (typical) : Frequent standing, walking, lifting / moving patients, reaching, kneeling, repetitive hand / arm movements, and keyboard entry; occasional sitting, squatting, running; rare climbing. Possible exposure to biological and chemical hazards (blood / body fluids; gases / vapors / fumes; hazardous medications); latex exposure may occur.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education : Bachelor's Degree preferred in Respiratory Therapy. License : Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in state of practice. Certifications : BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP preferred. Skills : Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments. Ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple clinical software systems. Effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand). Ability to successfully complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
