JOB SUMMARY :
Under the general direction and supervision of the agency’s Director of Nursing and in conjunction with the VP of Medical Affairs, the Medical Technician is responsible for providing direct care services to the High Watch Recovery Center’s guest. The Medical Technician also maintains a safe and efficient working and treatment environment per organization policies, procedures and best practices; communicates effectively with the treatment team to ensure safe, quality care is provided to all guests.
JOB DUTIES :
- Provides direct care services to include monitoring guests’ vitals and progress of detoxification.
- Monitor all guest’s activity and behavior throughout the detoxification process. Report any irregularities to the medical and program team on shift.
- Communicates with RN and assists with any guest needs.
- Responsible for collecting blood work, EKG’s and any specimens ordered by providers.
- Appropriately prepares and documents all guest medical records in accordance with regulatory requirements and organization policies and procedures.
- Collaborates in conjunction with the Clinical Team, Psychiatric providers and Program Team as part of the medical treatment team.
- May assist with the intake process as directed by nursing staff
- Assist in coordination of care to include case review, therapeutic interventions, and client progress in treatment.
- Completes all other tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma
Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician or Medical Assistant and / or 2 years' experience related field
One (1) year detox experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND ATTITUDES REQUIRED
Knowledge of software programs for personal computer use, especially word processing, email, spreadsheets and EMR.Knowledge and experience in providing medical assistance with substance use disorder clients.Ability to implement, and analyze treatment plans and assessments.Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, gaining cooperation and resolving conflicts.Ability to maintain and demonstrate ethical professional standards and demeanor, including the confidentiality of employee and client data, client boundaries, and other sensitive information.Demonstrated competence with, and continued commitment to respect for cultural differences and diversity, protecting client rights.Recognition of the limits of one’s own professional expertise and the willingness to seek supervision and / or support, as needed.Ability to make medical and organizational recommendations with the clients’ and agency well-being and best interests in mind.Recognize obvious symptoms of a substance use disorder.Identify types of medications commonly prescribed in a detoxification setting, mental health disorders and substance abuse, and the common side effects and adverse reactions to medications.Recognize, prevent and respond to a situation in which the client may be a danger to himself / herself or others, behaves in an aggressive or destructive manner, is experiencing a crisis situation or medical emergency.Recognize and respond to fire, disaster, hazard, and medical emergency : and has completed all of the requirements above and is documented in application in training including the ability to pass background checks required by High Watch.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
