Job Summary - About the Role
Deliver high quality recreation services for residents, visitors and the St. Charles community by adhering to the District's safety and administrative policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

This position is well suited for someone who is friendly, energetic, and interested in assisting and engaging children in interactive recreational and educational activities.

Required: Must be at least 16 years of age. Must be willing to work with livestock, including large animals. Should be able to work and communicate effectively with campers, parents, and farm staff. Must be available for the entire 9-week farm camp program. A strong background in education/childcare/coaching, knowledge of face-to-face program delivery, and a valid driver's license. Work/volunteer record that shows reliability, initiative, and good interpersonal skills. Must have or complete DCFS Mandated Reporter and CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire date.

Preferred: One year of experience in education, recreation, or a similar field.

Essential Functions of the Position or Role

Under the supervision of the Superintendent of Parks and Planning, the Assistant Superintendent of Outdoor Education, the Manager of Farm Programs and Interpretive Services, and the Farm Programs Supervisor, the Primrose Farm Camp Counselor shall complete all assigned duties to the best of their abilities, offering suggestions of better ways to accomplish jobs and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles Park District and of fellow employees. This position requires extensive knowledge and ability to:

• Follow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of Park District's safety and risk management program.
• Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated.
• Recommends improvements and efficiencies to better accomplish individual and district goals in the best interests of the St. Charles Park District community.
• Comply with park district policies and administrative procedures.

Responsibilities

• Take initiative to develop stimulating activities for children.
• Directly supervise all scheduled activities including off-site programs and pool visits.
• Keep a running inventory of supplies and request supplies as needed in a timely manner.
• Assist campers with basic livestock chores.
• Manage groups of children.
• Follow all safety procedures that pertain to duties involved.
• Perform first aid and CPR as needed.
