Specialist II, Water Quality

Purpose

The Specialist II carries out various assigned aspects of the water quality monitoring program and associated compliance activities. Performs other duties as required.

Accountabilities

• Collect and test water and wastewater samples for various analytes as required by permits
• Analyze data to identify trends, anomalies, and necessary corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations
• Prepare, review, and submit required reports to regulatory agencies
• Operate and calibrate laboratory equipment used in testing procedures
• Assist in the development and implementation of water quality control plans
• Conduct regular inspections of water and wastewater treatment facilities
• Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of testing instruments
• Participate in emergency response activities related to water and wastewater incidents
• Investigate complaints and answer inquiries from customers concerning water quality
• Regularly report to and communicate with the supervisor regarding compliance activities and emerging or ongoing water quality concerns
• Performs custodial duties in the laboratory, such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, and trash removal to maintain the cleanliness of the laboratories
• Maintains the confidentiality of files, records, reports, and procedures as required by law and company policies

Full base salary range $80,000- $90,000 per year
