Dean of Research / Office of Technology Licensing: The Office of Technology Licensing (OTL) was established in 1970 to manage the intellectual property assets of Stanford University. OTL evaluates, markets, and licenses technology owned by the University. OTL's mission is to encourage effective technology transfer for the public benefit as well as generating royalty income for Stanford to benefit research and education. OTL is one of the country's most active offices in the field of technology transfer from the university to industry. Our staff, most of whom are professionals engaged directly in licensing, manages over 3,000 active dockets.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Office of Technology Licensing is looking for Compliance Manager that will be responsible for managing sponsor compliance activities across federal and non-federal sponsored research associated with Stanford inventions and intellectual property. This role ensures OTL meets reporting, documentation, and communication obligations required by sponsors and applicable regulations, including Bayh-Dole requirements for federally funded inventions and patents. The Compliance Manager serves as a subject matter expert for sponsor compliance workflows, maintains accurate sponsor and invention records in Stanford’s homegrown database (4D), and supports federal reporting and status maintenance in iEdison.
The Compliance Manager collaborates closely with internal OTL teams (Licensing, Operations, Finance), as well as external partners including faculty/inventors, Office of Sponsored Research, outside counsel, and other campus units to ensure accurate recordkeeping, timely reporting, and risk-reducing compliance practices.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

WORK STANDARDS:
This role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University has five Regional Pay Structures. The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate.
The expected pay range for this position is $65,281 to $104,687 per annum for remote positions outside of Stanford’s work location.
The expected pay range for this position is $100,023 to $124,516 per annum for remote positions within Stanford’s work location.
