Job Overview
The Autonomous Mining Dispatch Controls Specialist (Command Operator) manages and oversees shift activities for autonomous haul truck operations. This includes monitoring and directing the movement of equipment, personnel, and materials. The role works closely with the mining operations team and the MineStar Command system to ensure safe, efficient execution of the daily mine plan and the achievement of production targets.
Responsibilities
- Execute the mine plan through effective use of the Command for MineStar Hauling system.
- Ensure data accuracy and correct blend management in alignment with the daily plan.
- Prioritize and coordinate work to meet shift objectives and follow operating procedures.
- Complete and validate shift reports, document issues for follow‑up, and perform thorough shift turnovers.
- Apply production‑efficient practices using tools such as decision support, travel progress, and status monitoring.
- Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture within control operations.
- Develop and implement safety procedures and protocols for autonomous haul truck systems.
- Adhere to all company policies, regulations, and procedures; report autonomous‑related incidents promptly.
- Participate in safety meetings, investigations, and safety programs.
- Monitor operations, processes, and system performance to ensure key performance indicators are met.
- Communicate promptly with affected personnel when plans or decisions change.
- Coordinate activities with internal and external departments including maintenance and engineering.
- Provide training and coaching to personnel as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and five years of related operational experience including supervisory or lead experience; orBachelor’s degree in a technical mining‑related discipline and at least one internship or equivalent mining or industrial experience.Ability to understand and follow written and verbal work instructions and safety procedures in English.Ability to communicate in English regarding job tasks, procedures, and safety requirements.Proficiency with computers and software applications.Strong organizational and priority‑setting skills with the ability to make complex decisions.Preferred Qualifications
Experience with fleet management systems such as MineStar Fleet or Modular Mining Dispatch.Engineering experience.Broad experience across various mining process areas.Conflict management skills and the ability to handle difficult situations.Ability to influence others and work effectively across teams and leadership levels.Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet target outcomes.
