Responsibilities

Mayo Clinic Children’s is seeking a Pediatric Neuro-Oncologist to join the growing Division of Pediatric Hematology / Oncology. Mayo Clinic is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and Comprehensive Hemophilia Treatment center with 12 pediatric hematologist / oncologists, nine nurse practitioners, and eight specialty nurses. The Neuro-Oncology team currently includes one pediatric neuro-oncologist and one nurse practitioner who collaborate closely with experts in neurology, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, and radiation oncology to provide world-class care to children with brain tumors. Patients also benefit from access to proton therapy, a comprehensive neuropsychological team, pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation, and dedicated Child Life and Social Work services that support the cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial needs of children and families.

Building on this strong foundation of multidisciplinary care, we also offer a robust Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) program tailored to the unique medical, emotional, and social needs of this population. The program is further enhanced by a dedicated survivorship clinic, seamlessly integrated into our practice to provide convenient access to adult specialists and ensure continuity of care well beyond acute cancer treatment.

This role is dedicated to the care of children with central nervous system tumors within a highly collaborative outpatient practice. All physicians in the Division of Pediatric Hematology / Oncology share in the care of children with cancer, blood disorders, and those undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplants within Mayo Clinic Hospital. In addition, the Neuro-Oncologist will play an active role in our educational mission by teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Dedicated career development time is built into the position to support scholarly activity, professional growth, and leadership within the field.

Beyond clinical care, the ideal candidate will be an eager investigator who participates in clinical research and collaborates with ongoing discovery and translational studies across the institution. As a member of the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, the Neuro-Oncologist will have the opportunity to engage regularly with both pediatric and adult cancer care teams, fostering collaboration that advances patient care and scientific knowledge. Our group is a full member of the Children’s Oncology Group and a COG-approved hematopoietic stem cell transplantation center. Academic rank in the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine will be granted commensurate with experience.
