About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - ICU

Experience : Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; first-time travelers accepted with strong ICU experience

License : Current RN license

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required

Must-Have :

• Art line management
• Vasoactive medication titration
• Vent management and weaning (with respiratory therapy support)
• Chest tube management
• Critical thinking skills

Description :

This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in the Intensive Care Unit.

The ICU unit has 16 beds with an average daily census of 10 patients.

The unit typically manages patients with conditions such as ARDS, sepsis, COPD, DKA, and stroke.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 2 : 1 for ICU patients and 3 : 1 for Intermediate Care patients.

Support within the department includes CNA assistance for activities of daily living and transport.

Charge nurses and resource nurses are available, with respiratory therapy on site 24 / 7.

The hospital employs hospitalists and intensivists who provide coverage around the clock.

Telemetry monitoring is available, but the unit does not monitor rhythms for specific areas.

The electronic medical record system used is EPIC, with specific equipment such as IV pumps and monitors available on the unit.

The unit prides itself on having a culture of mentorship, with experienced nurses helping new graduates gain confidence.

Travelers will work every other weekend and will be expected to work 75% of holidays.

The scrub color required is royal blue.
