Metal Fabrication, CNC, Ordering, and Inventory Job Description
This role involves the entire cycle of production for metal components, from material management to final fabrication and quality control, with a focus on Computer Numerical Control (CNC) operations.
1. Primary Duties : Metal Fabrication & CNC Operations
These are the core technical responsibilities of the role.
Set up, operate, and program various CNC machines (e.g., mills, lathes, plasma cutters, press brakes) to produce parts to precise specifications.
Perform hands-on metal fabrication using tools and techniques such as cutting, bending, forming, grinding, and welding (MIG / TIG proficiency is often preferred).
Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges) to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards.
2. Logistical Duties : Ordering & Inventory
This section focuses on the supply chain and material management aspect of the job.
Maintain accurate records of raw materials (e.g., steel, aluminum stock), components, and finished parts.
Monitor stock levels and determine material requirements based on production schedules and work orders.
Complete and maintain production, quality, and inventory logs / documentation (often utilizing an ERP or production management system ).
3. Additional Requirement : Plastics (A Plus)
The mention of "plastics a plus" indicates that experience with non-metallic materials is valuable, suggesting diversification in production needs.
Experience working with different types of plastics, or rotational molding, potentially including machining, thermoforming, or knowledge of 3D printing / rapid prototyping.
