APRN / PA-C - Inpatient Interventional Pain Five, 8 hour shifts
Phase 1 : inpatient interventional pain
Phase 2 : inpatient interventional pain AND inpatient acute pain service
Based in the Interventional Pain Division, under the Department of Anesthesiology, this inpatient Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position provides patient care under the auspices of the Moffitt Medical Group (MMG) and serves as member of the academic medical enterprise; advancing the institutional mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer.
Position Highlights :
- Assists physicians with the inpatient evaluation and treatment of a wide spectrum of pain conditions affecting our patients with cancer.
- Pain may be cancer related, treatment related, post operative or chronic.
- Phase 1 will be evaluating patients for interventional pain procedural candidacy and following up on procedure results and potential for further interventions to alleviate pain and expediate discharge.
- Phase 2 will add the evaluation of patients sufferring with refractory pain post operatively and suggesting medication management and pain procedural interventions.
- Works within a defined scope of practice and under the authority of supervising physician(s) or by specific protocol(s).

Provides patient care as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with many specialists to coordinate and optimize patient care.Correlates subjective and objective data to formulate a differential or working diagnosis.Formulates treatment plans for pain conditions within scope of practice.May perform minor pain procedures within scope of practice.Prescribes oral and IV medications when appropriate, within the scope of practice.Documents patient care in accordance with medical staff rules.Credentials and Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree at minimum; master's degree preferred.Graduate of an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant program.Active FL medical license (or the ability to obtain one) and national certification by the appropriate accreditation body.Active BLS and ACLS (must be AHA approved)Experience in pain management, anesthesiology, oncology or general internal medicine; previous specific experience in relation to pain is preferred.
