Director, R&D Quality Analytics Center of Excellence
Vertex Pharmaceuticals seeks an experienced leader to guide our R&D Quality Assurance (RDQA) Analytics and Centers of Excellence (ACE) team. The role is responsible for delivering strategic, operational, and technical initiatives that build a data‑rich landscape, standardize processes, and promote a data‑driven decision‑making culture across all vertex quality organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the strategic direction of RDQA and support process development, technological innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Recommend and implement modifications to advance RDQA processes, analytics, and information framework for effective governance and data‑driven oversight.
- Work with stakeholders to assess and prioritize system and business needs related to technology and process optimization.
Provide leadership and oversight to the RDQA portfolio of key business initiatives, including :
Provide operational insights that relate to or are impacted by solutions.Identify risks and issues early with appropriate mitigation strategies.Participate in the design and development of metrics, reports, and dashboards to monitor progress and data insights.Engage in governance committees related to process, data, and technical operations.Represent RDQA on cross‑functional initiatives focused on operational excellence and data reporting to ensure consistency across the organization.Provide oversight and support during ideation, requirements definition, systems and process design, development, and testing to ensure stability, scalability, and sustainability.Support the Analytics team in translating complex data insights into understandable, actionable information for decision‑makers.Stay at the forefront of industry‑specific processes, regulations, best practices, systems, and technologies to enhance RDQA strategy.Supervise and train direct reports, providing guidance and support to ensure productivity and results.Evaluate staff performance and foster a positive, motivated work environment.Knowledge and Skills
Strong collaborative leadership, decision‑making, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.Strong problem‑solving and critical thinking skills with analytical and data‑analysis capabilities.Project Management skills : manage projects and initiatives using best practices, focus on results, process, and relationships, track progress, and apply Lean Six Sigma or comparable principles.Ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.Effective communication and risk mitigation with senior management.Ability to articulate business justification, ROI, and value‑stream principles.Stakeholder management and governance within RDQA and steering committees.Proficiency with business intelligence / visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Snowflake) and quality management applications (e.g., Veeva).Advanced Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint, and Smartsheet skills for dashboard reporting.In‑depth knowledge of GxP, GCP, and regulatory frameworks governing drug development and quality management.Minimum Qualifications
B.S. in a scientific or allied health field and 10+ years of relevant experience.Pay Range
$174,400 – $261,600
Disclosure Statement
The range provided is a reasonable estimate for the base salary at the time of posting. The role is eligible for annual bonus and equity awards, and may qualify for overtime pay per federal and state requirements. Actual salary will be based on skills, experience, and other factors permitted by law.

Flex Eligibility Status
Remote : work remotely five days per week with occasional office visits.Hybrid : work remotely up to two days per week.On‑Site : work five days per week on site with ad hoc flexibility.Note : Flex status is subject to Vertex’s Flex @ Vertex Program policies and may change.
