Job Summary

SCHOOL NURSE

A school nurse provides health care to students and staff and promotes a healthy school environment. They also help students succeed academically by identifying and removing health barriers to learning.

Job Duties
• Provide healthcare: Provide basic care for injuries and illnesses and develop care plans for students with chronic conditions
• Conduct screenings: Perform regular health screenings to detect health problems early
• Educate: Teach students, parents, and staff about healthy habits like hygiene and nutrition
• Promote health: Advocate for the physical, mental, emotional, and social health of students
• Ensure safety: Make sure the school is safe for students and staff by preventing the spread of communicable diseases
• Ensure compliance: Follow local and national health laws
• Update records: Keep track of students' vaccination records and medical histories
• Administer Medication: Administer medication to students with health conditions and maintain accurate documentation

Qualifications
• RN or LPN with current credentials
• Clinical knowledge and judgment
• Strong commitment to the health and safety of students
• Excellent communication, organization, and multi-tasking skills

Salary

Salary is based on experience in school nursing per the salary matrix.
