Position Title : Multilingual Learner LEARN Works Instructor

Reports to : Director of Education Services

Classification : Non-exempt

Category : Part-time, seasonal

(In-Person, Monday-Friday from 2 : 00-6 : 30 pm, from mid-Aug. through mid-May, occasional extended shift)

Job Summary : Under the general direction of the Director of Education Services as well as in accordance with the mission of the Ada Jenkins Center and purpose of the LEARN Works Afterschool Academic & Enrichment Program, the ML LEARN Works Instructor will be directly responsible for supporting the reading progress, the academic enrichment of a group of elementary Multilingual Learners, and for providing strong, caring supervision at all times, using explicit instruction practices and ML resources.

Job Qualifications :

• Minimally one year certificate from college or technical school; or six months to a year of related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 2 years of experience working with elementary school students preferred.
• ESL, TESOL, or certified in a similar program. If not currently certified at the time of hire, TESOL certification can be acquired shortly after.
• Fluency and literacy in another language preferred.
• Must already be familiar with or willing to learn and employ the program's philosophy utilizing Love and Logic principles in working children and families.
• Prior experience working with volunteers preferred.
• Computer proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Comfortable with online instruction and familiar with Microsoft Office apps preferred.
• CPR and First Aid Certified. If not currently certified at the time of hire, certification can be acquired shortly after.
