General Summary
The Business Development Coordinator drives organizational growth by building referral partnerships, expanding funding pipelines, and elevating Touchstone’s presence in the community. This position actively engages hospitals, schools, DCS partners, community agencies, foundations, and philanthropic organizations to increase referrals and create new revenue opportunities.
Success in this role requires an outgoing, personable communicator who enjoys networking, presenting, and cultivating relationships. Outreach activities are tracked and measured against strategic and financial goals to ensure efforts convert into meaningful referral volume and community visibility.
A major focus of the position includes researching grants and funding opportunities, initiating outreach to philanthropic partners, and supporting the groundwork required for successful submissions. Efforts are centered on diversifying revenue through private foundation funding, corporate sponsorships, and direct monetary contributions.
By strengthening referral pipelines and expanding funding sources outside of Medicaid, the Business Development Coordinator helps Touchstone enhance program sustainability, reduce financial dependency on Medicaid reimbursement, and support long-term organizational growth.
Essential Functions
Business Development & Referral Growth
- Build and maintain referral relationships with hospitals, schools, DCS, community providers, and social service agencies.
- Conduct outreach visits, presentations, and networking events to increase agency visibility and brand recognition.
- Maintain the referral dashboard and tracking systems (activity logs, conversion metrics, referral outcomes).
- Support the Director in developing and executing strategies that increase referral volume and improve conversion rates.
- Identify opportunities to expand Touchstone’s presence through events, sponsorships, outreach initiatives, and community partnerships.
Funding & Resource Development (Grants, Philanthropy & Donations)
Conduct proactive research to identify grant opportunities, private foundation funding, community reinvestment dollars, and corporate sponsorships aligned with Touchstone’s services.Initiate outreach to philanthropic organizations and support grant pre-work (letters of inquiry, narratives, project descriptions, budget needs, documentation).Track and maintain a portfolio of funding opportunities, including deadlines, contacts, and status updates, report progress to leadership.Manage donor and funder stewardship, including follow-up communication, maintaining ongoing engagement, and tracking deliverables or reporting requirements. Support fundraising activities by coordinating donor touchpoints, assisting with cultivation events, and strengthening long-term philanthropic relationships.Coordinate in-kind donations (furniture, supplies, food, community sponsorships), ensuring equitable distribution and alignment with program needs.Community Engagement & Branding
Represent Touchstone at community meetings, coalitions, expos, fairs, and other events to build partnerships and promote services.Support planning and execution of outreach events, community drives, conferences, and campaigns.Partner with Outreach / Marketing to ensure marketing materials are updated and distributed strategically — reinforcing consistent messaging and brand alignment across all community touchpoints.Collaborate with internal departments to ensure community messaging reflects current service offerings and referral pathways.Physical Demands and Work Environment
