Behavioral Health Therapist 1

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for a dedicated Behavioral Therapist 1 / Music Therapist to join the Children's Life with Cancer team. The role will conduct individual and group music therapy sessions for children inpatient and outpatient settings. This role will be PRN.

Behavioral Health Therapist I Job Responsibilities :

  • Provides a range of mental health and / or substance use disorders therapeutic interventions, psycho-educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient / family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan.
  • May participate in inpatient and community psychoeducational programs, facilitate support groups for specified disease processes related to mental health, medical diagnosis, chronic or life-limited illnesses while assisting with community outreach.
  • Duties will be performed under the clinical supervision of an approved clinical supervisor.

    • Minimum Qualifications :

  • Education : Master's degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in mental health, social work, counseling, psychology, or behavioral health-related field
  • Experience : Internship in mental health or substance use disorder treatment completed within 90 days of employment.

    • Certifications :

  • Basic Life Support required within 3 months of hire
  • Vistelar required within 6 Months of hire
  • License : one of the following required within 5 years.

    • Must comply with the appropriate licensing board requirement for registering as a Resident in Training or Supervisee in Clinical Social Work or applicable title identified by the specific licensing board within 4 months of hire.

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC),
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT),
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW),
  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP),
  • Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP).
