Job Title : Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Location : One of the five boroughs of the New York City metropolitan area
Schedule : Full-Time | Monday – Friday | 8 hours per day
Salary Range : $290,000 – $350,000 annually (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
No Relocation or Sign on Bonus provided
Job Summary
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) serves as a key executive leader responsible for the administration and operational management of a major hospital facility. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) , the COO exercises broad authority in overseeing hospital operations, ensuring compliance, fiscal responsibility, and service excellence. Acting as the Deputy to the CEO , this role provides strategic leadership for multiple departments, including Operations, Facilities Management, Ancillary Services, Clinical Operations, and Emergency Management .
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of hospital programs, policies, and procedures.
Oversee day-to-day hospital operations , ensuring alignment with organizational goals and healthcare standards.
Ensure full regulatory compliance and readiness for accreditation inspections and audits.
Recommend and oversee procurement of supplies, equipment, and facility improvements consistent with organizational policies.
Direct and participate in interdepartmental meetings to enhance communication, collaboration, and governance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with professional groups, regulatory bodies, and community organizations .
Develop and maintain data-driven reporting systems to support planning, evaluation, and decision-making.
Establish and monitor performance standards , conduct evaluations, and implement corrective measures as needed.
Prepare, manage, and monitor operating budgets , ensuring financial efficiency and accountability.
Serve as Acting Chief Executive Officer during the CEO’s absence.
Qualifications
Required :
Master’s degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Medical Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 6 years of full-time experience in a senior leadership role within business or hospital administration, with demonstrated responsibility for operational oversight.
Extensive knowledge of hospital operations, healthcare regulations, and community healthcare systems .
Proven leadership and strategic management skills within complex healthcare environments.
