About the Role

The Revenue Cycle Specialist is responsible for accurate physician coding, claim submission, and follow-up on outstanding claims to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of medical coding guidelines, payer requirements, and the full physician billing lifecycle.

Requirements

• Review and accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for physician services based on medical documentation.
• Ensure coding compliance with payer guidelines, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance carriers and government payers.
• Review and correct claim edits or rejections prior to submission.
• Monitor and follow up on outstanding claims with insurance companies to resolve denials, underpayments, or delays in payment.
• Investigate and resolve claim discrepancies, coding issues, and payer denials.
• Work closely with providers and internal teams to clarify documentation and coding questions.
• Maintain productivity and accuracy standards for coding and billing tasks.
• Stay current with coding updates, payer policies, and regulatory changes.
• Assist with audits, reporting, and process improvement initiatives related to coding and billing.

Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential required through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in physician coding and medical billing.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Experience with claim submission, denial management, and insurance follow-up.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while meeting productivity and accuracy goals.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working within a Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) environment.
• Knowledge of multiple payer guidelines including commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid.
• Experience with coding audits or quality assurance processes
