Easterseals offers a unique opportunity for a highly motivated and accomplished professional to join its team as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) . Easterseals DC MD VA (ESDCMDVA) is leading the way to full equity, inclusion, and access through direct and life‑changing disability and community services. We are an independently incorporated affiliate of the international Easterseals network serving DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia governed by a local Board of Directors to meet needs in our community.
Since 1945, ESDCMDVA has worked tirelessly to enhance quality of life and expand access to healthcare, education, and employment. We take a holistic approach, providing comprehensive services to thousands of children and adults in our neighborhoods, no matter their disability, military status, income, race, or age. To help each child reach their full potential, we provide personalized child development and early intervention services. To improve health and reduce isolation in adults with disabilities, we offer engaging activities and expansive resources. To enable military families to integrate into the community, we provide a suite of services, including employment support and mental healthcare. And to sustain families and caregivers, we provide comprehensive services and supports.
Our Mission is to enrich lives and expand opportunities for all children and adults in our communities, including people with disabilities and military backgrounds. Our Vision is to create a hopeful, inclusive community where all people realize their potential and live meaningful lives. We achieve these goals by empowering all clients to overcome barriers to well‑being, regardless of race, ethnicity, socio‑economic status, or any other group affiliation. More than half the individuals we serve each year are of low or moderate income.
Our dedicated staff of approximately 300 professionals includes specialists in education, therapy, senior services, social work, assistive technology, nursing, and related professions. As part of the Easterseals international network, we draw on the resources of almost 25,000 professionals to stay at the cutting edge of service delivery.

Organizational Leadership and Governance Board of Directors
ESDCMDVA’s Board has been recognized with the “Excellence in Board Leadership” Award by The Center for Nonprofit Advancement and the “Best Board in the World” Award from Easterseals, Inc. The Board, particularly the Finance and Risk Management Committees, will partner closely with the CFO to advance ESDCMDVA’s operations.
Jon Horowitch, President & CEO, is committed to improving lives of individuals with disabilities, veterans & military families, and low‑income families. Jon joined Easterseals as a member of the Board of Directors in 2007 and became Chief Operating Officer in 2011. In February 2017, Jon was named President and Chief Executive Officer.
Before joining Easterseals, Mr. Horowitch had a long career in the for‑profit sector at leading companies including Capital One, Global Crossing, Credit Suisse, and AT Kearney and served on the Easterseals DC MD VA Board of Directors, as well as other volunteer positions. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and with honors in History from Williams College.
Senior Leadership Team
The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) brings an array of expertise, competencies, perspectives, and personality traits to the organization. The CFO will be a member of the SLT and be a key voice in achieving organizational objectives.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the organization’s President & CEO, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key member of, and strong business partner to, the executive leadership team. The CFO will lead the production of accurate and timely financial reports and, based on the analyses generated, collaborate with the leadership team to make sound and informed business decisions. The CFO plays a critical role in strategically guiding ESDCMDVA into the future, while ensuring that current operations remain strong and that all internal and external financial reports are not only accurate, but also produced on a timely basis.
The CFO leads both the strategy and the day‑to‑day operations of ESDCMDVA’s finance and accounting function. This individual also enhances the leadership team’s understanding of the financial performance of each program area, as well as that of ESDCMDVA overall. He / she will devise, implement, and administer the organization’s overall financial budget and forecasts; lead financial programs and policies; oversee fiscal compliance with all regulatory and / or governing bodies; and manage a team of finance / accounting professionals. In addition, the Chief Financial Officer serves as a business partner to the Audit and Finance Committees of ESDCMDVA’s Board of Directors, provides support to the organization’s Board members, and works closely with other leaders and executive management.

The successful candidate will be a thoughtful, strategic individual with a strong drive for results, who applies a disciplined approach to continuously enhancing processes, systems, documentation, and training. He or she will be savvy at building relationships both inside and outside the organization and will have an appetite for both hands‑on activities and strategy‑setting and leadership. Strong business acumen will drive confidence from the Board and SLT colleagues, while operating skills such as organizing, planning, delegation, and team development will be crucial to building rapport and confidence of the staff.
