DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will work closely with DOC staff and community organizations to coordinate and manage services tailored to the unique needs of incarcerated individuals. You will deliver professional casework support to inmates housed in specialized units that offer treatment and reentry programming. Key responsibilities include providing guidance, crisis intervention, counseling, and support to inmates and their families. You will help motivate and empower inmates to develop and utilize their strengths to improve their social, economic, emotional, physical, and mental well-being. You will facilitate individual and group counseling sessions as part of reentry and discharge preparation. Your duties will involve preparing comprehensive written reports documenting inmates' progress and adjustment during incarceration, as well as providing staff recommendations to courts, parole authorities, and other stakeholders. Additionally, you will manage complex cases, often involving both mental health and correctional components, and use your understanding of systems and their interactions to make informed, independent decisions that support positive outcomes for the inmates you serve.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hour work week
- Work hours are 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework : You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary : In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Additional pay will be considered for those who currently possess or obtain licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselors. Documentation will need to be provided at interview to receive additional pay consideration.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements :
Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (commonwealth titles) (must have been employed in a commonwealth social worker job title on September 8, 2008, with continuous commonwealth employment); orTwo years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or a Forensic Social Worker 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) and a bachelor's degree in social work or social welfare; orTwo years of professional experience providing direct public or private social work services, and a bachelor's degree in social work or social welfare; orA master's degree in social work or social welfare.Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.Special Requirements :
All employees in the Department of Corrections must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification within two months of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment in the job.Other Requirements :
