Primary Job Objective / Job Summary :
The Staff Accountant provides professional accounting support to a variety of financial functions for SC Thrive, including preparation of month end close journal entries, performing cash and other account reconciliations and various other special projects.
Direct Reports / Supervisory Responsibilities : None
Essential Functions :
- Perform comprehensive accounting activities to maintain complete, accurate, and timely financial statements and reports.
- Record and maintain accurate transactional entries and reconciliations monthly.
- Monitor and ensure the integrity of banking and cash management activities.
- Assist with various administrative reports and duties within the department.
- Maintains records and agreements with vendors and partners.
- Manages accounts receivable processes and systems, to include invoicing.
- Manages accounts payable processes and systems, to include bill payments and vendor payments.
- Oversees liability insurance renewal processes.
- Ensures cash management procedures and all internal controls are followed appropriately.
- Assists in improving processes and procedures for a more efficient and accurate monthly close.
- Assists management as needed with financial information requests and questions.
- Assists with internal and external audits.
- Assists in the development, documentation and implementation of departmental accounting procedures and standards.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality to ensure that privileged and / or proprietary information is adequately safeguarded against disclosure
- Proposes cost saving opportunities when appropriate
- Performs research related to accounting guidance as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience Required :
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance requiredMinimum of 2 years of accounting experienceProficient in all Microsoft Products, especially ExcelKnowledge of monthly accounting cycle and accounting procedures including invoicing, receivables, revenues, payroll accounting, cash procedures, and controls.Demonstrates excellent attention to detail, as well as strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational abilities.Displays ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and be a self-starter.Solid technological skills, including Microsoft Office, especially ExcelAccounting Software skills, QuickBooks a plusSolid communication skills, written and oralHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailSolid organizational and analytical skills.Preferred Qualifications and Experience :

The job will usually be performed in a standard office environment, but occasionally, travel will be required. Occasional work outside standard business hours, including nights, overnights and weekends, may be required for special projects and events. Occasionally travels and works in outdoor weather conditions.
Must be able to remain stationary 70% of the time. The individual in this job must occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office equipment, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as calculators, printers, etc. Frequently positions themselves to maintain files in file cabinets. Consistently communicates information and ideas to others. Must be able to exchange accurate information in a manner others understand in these situations. Frequently observes details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Occasionally moves boxes up to 20 pounds across the office for various purposes.
