Cloud Architect / Program Manager

Location : Grand Rapids, MI (Onsite 3 Days / Week)

Our client, an Enterprise Retail organization is hiring a strategic Architect to progress multiple Digital initiatives. The organization leverages eCommerce for grocery , but as it pivots toward general merchandise (GM), the need for robust infrastructure and seamless execution has never been greater.

The Program Manager / Architect will play a dual role —balancing technical architecture with program leadership —guiding teams and aligning business goals with cutting-edge cloud solutions .

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead and drive multi-cloud architecture initiatives, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Support DevOps and containerization strategies using Docker & Kubernetes for scalable deployment.
  • Collaborate with various managers and multiple teams (including back-end technical services, DevOps Engineering, platform engineering) to create and implement technology roadmaps .
  • Provide technical oversight of cloud architecture across Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) .
  • Act as a bridge between technical execution and business strategy , ensuring seamless coordination between teams.
  • Optimize infrastructure to meet demanding customer expectations in general merchandise—where delays and order challenges are unacceptable .
  • Lead cross-functional projects while managing milestones, risks, and dependencies.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to leadership regarding emerging cloud technologies and enterprise retail trends.

Top Skills & Qualifications :

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture and program management.
  • Deep knowledge of multi-cloud and containerization strategies .
  • Proven ability to drive cross-team collaboration and deliver impactful technology roadmaps .
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills .

    • Ideal Background :

  • Architectural expertise in designing and supporting enterprise cloud solutions (Azure, GCP).
  • Strong DevOps and Containerization experience (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.) from an Architectural standpoint.
  • Ability to move initiatives forward , acting as both an Architect and Program Manager .
  • Experience leading technical teams while maintaining executive-level visibility.
  • Expertise in balancing hands-on technical leadership with program management responsibilities .
