Job Title : Material Handler Job Description

The main function of a Material Handler is to receive, store, and issue materials, equipment, and other items from stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.

Responsibilities

Receive and count stock items, and record data manually or using a computer.

Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.

Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.

Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.

Label stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.

Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Keep records on the use and / or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.

Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.

Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective security operations.

High school diploma or GED required.

0-2 years of experience required.

Experience with material handling, packing, general warehouse tasks, inventory accuracy, sit-down forklift, and truck loading / unloading.

Work Environment

The work schedule is from 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM, Monday through Friday, in a warehouse setting. Employees are expected to adhere to safety regulations and maintain a clean work environment. Dress code is casual but should be appropriate for warehouse activities.

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00 / hr.
