Reporting directly into the CFO, the Controller will lead all accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and maintain strong internal controls. They'll manage the monthly close, support budgeting and forecasting, and partner with leadership to drive financial strategy. The role includes analyzing results, explaining variances, coordinating audits, reviewing contracts and capital spend, and improving processes. They'll also oversee and develop the accounting team.

Job Description
Controller Responsibilities :
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Accounting team, ensuring all financial data is recorded and reported in line with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Maintain and strengthen the internal control environment to meet SOX requirements and Federal Signal's internal control expectations, ensuring all supporting documentation is complete and compliant.
- Partner closely with the General Manager and Finance leadership on decisions related to internal controls, processes, investments, asset decisions, pricing, accounting estimates, and broader commercial activities.
- Serve as a key connection point between Operations, Sales, corporate departments, auditors, and external stakeholders to support accurate information exchange and strong decision-making.
- Collaborate with business unit leaders on building strategic plans, annual budgets, and monthly forecasts, and support the team in achieving financial and operational goals.
- Share accountability for forecast accuracy with business leadership, providing guidance and insight to improve planning.
- Lead the monthly close cycle, ensuring timely and accurate financial results, proper execution of internal controls, completion and approval of account reconciliations, accuracy of manual entries, and reconciliation of data from external systems to the ERP. Provide clear explanations for significant variances versus expectations.
- Manage coordination of both internal and external audits and ensure follow-up actions are completed promptly.
- Prepare and deliver financial reports, performance analysis, and variance explanations, including identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Utilize continuous improvement methods to enhance processes, strengthen efficiency, and drive cost-reduction initiatives across the business unit.

The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (Master's / MBA is a plus).
- CPA certification preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in accounting and financial reporting, including leadership responsibilities.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, SOX compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Comfortable working with ERP systems.
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to analyze complex financial data, produce accurate reporting, and maintain high attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of leading teams and driving process improvements.
