License : High School Diploma or equivalent required

Certifications : Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPD) must not expire during term of assignment

Must-Have : Ability to lift / carry 25 pounds; manual dexterity; ability to stand, bend, lift and / or reach for extended periods of time; effective communication skills in English (verbal and written); follow oral and / or written instructions.

Description :

Large, busy off-site reprocessing center providing sterile processing services for multiple facilities.

Every other weekend work is required.

Position involves disassembling, cleaning, sterilizing, reassembling, and packaging sterile supplies according to specifications and / or manufacturer instructions.

Follows department protocols during the sterilization process.

Operates washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, heat sealers, and additional equipment.

Adheres to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts.

Retrieves used trays, instruments, and equipment from various surgical and clinical areas for decontamination.

Examines instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality.

Identifies malfunctioning items, records related information, and promptly notifies supervisor or biomedical engineer.

Assists in ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels.

Performs required duties to maintain a contaminant-free work environment.

Scrubs are provided and must be laundered on-site.

Shoes, jewelry, hair, and beard must be covered.

Nail polish is not permitted.
