Web Content Manager
to lead our web strategy, ensuring our most utilized communications tool is serving the residents of our growing city. In this role, you’ll manage the city’s websites and other communications tools, collaborating closely with communicators across the organization on content development and brand alignment to deliver a user‑friendly and engaging website experience.

About Us
The City of Raleigh is one of the fastest‑growing cities in the country, home to roughly 500,000 residents. Our Communications Department acts as the voice of the city, shaping messaging, guiding the visual brand and connecting the community to the information they need. Our creative team of 30 work together to craft high‑quality, clear and engaging communications. Led by a director and two assistant directors, we collaborate closely with communicators in departments across the city to align communications goals and deliver impactful information that resonates with residents. Our web team of four, led by the Web Content Manager, is critical in shaping the city’s digital presence and works hand‑in‑hand with the design team, public affairs group and communications strategists to achieve our department’s goals.

Responsibilities
Guides the web content strategy for the City, collaborating with communicators across the organization to ensure content is clear, engaging and impactful
Manages a team of two full‑time and one part‑time web content coordinator
Supports development and maintenance of City websites using the Agile model, write support tickets, and perform quality assurance
Trains City‑wide content editors on website best practices, industry standards, Americans with Disabilities Act compliance, and search engine optimization
Works with IT to troubleshoot bugs with technology tools such as the hosting platform, content management system (CMS), email dissemination tools, the survey site, video hosting platforms, and podcast platforms
Strategizes content with communicators and web content editors throughout the organization to determine the communications web plan for everyday content, campaigns, and crisis management
Collaborates with key stakeholders to develop web features that deliver timely information to our community during crises and emergencies
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Public Affairs, or related field, and 5 to 7 years’ experience in public relations, communication, marketing, web content management, web design, user experience (UX), supervisory, or related field
OR
Any equivalent combination of training and / or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted
Knowledge of
Common website development and management tools including content management systems (Drupal), search engine optimization (Cludo), web analytics and site optimization (SiteImprove) and others
Other communication tools including email marketing (GovDelivery), community engagement & surveying (Public Input)
Content strategy
Agile process site development
National Incident Management System (NIMS)
Modern office practices and procedures including the use of standard office equipment and computer applications such as word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications
Supervisory principles, practices and techniques
Skill In

Very basic video editing, graphic design, and photography
Ability to
