About the Role :

Our innovative neuroscience disease area is looking for a data scientist or computational biologist based at our San Diego site with expertise in human genetics and machine learning. This key role will join a team developing novel approaches in genetic medicine to tackle medical challenges and improve patient outcomes. The successful candidate should be able to integrate analyze and interpret large biomedical datasets using various computational tools.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities :

• Work with wet lab scientists to develop testable biological hypotheses and collaborate in designing rigorous preclinical experiments
• Collaborate with other data scientists and be a subject matter expert in bioinformatics / sequence analysis portion of a drug discovery and development project.
• Analyze large amounts of sequencing data to guide the identification and development of DNA-based (AAV-based) RNA-based (xRNA) or protein-based (antibodies) treatments.
• Utilize bioinformatics skills to identify novel therapeutic targets and develop insights how genetic variants affect human disease in general.

Preferred Requirements :

The salary for the Senior Expert I position is expected to range between $119000 and $222000 per year.

The salary for the Senior Expert II position is expected to range between $132000 and $245000 per year.

The final salary offered is determined based on factors like but not limited to relevant skills and experience and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.

Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and depending on the level of the role eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
