ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Invictus Academy is an independent public charter school located in El Cerrito and we are seeking a Restorative Justice Coordinator to join our team who believes deeply that the mission model and values at Invictus are driving improved educational outcomes for students.

The Restorative Justice Coordinator (RJC) manages the schools restorative ecosystem prioritizing accountability healing and community. Working alongside the culture leadership team the RJC integrates restorative practices into established PBIS and disciplinary systems to ensure conflicts become opportunities for growth. By partnering with students staff and families the RJC supports teachers in maintaining joyful structured learning environments where every student feels a sense of belonging.

We are seeking exceptional individuals to execute the following essential job functions and professional responsibilities :

School Culture & Restorative Justice

  • High Expectations : Set and hold high expectations for school culture ensuring a positive joyful and productive environment.
  • Restorative Facilitation : Lead restorative conferences circles mediations and classroom re-entry meetings involving students families and staff.
  • Intervention : Respond to student conflicts and behavioral incidents using restorative approaches helping students understand the impact of their actions and develop plans to repair harm.
  • Program Design : Design implement and monitor restorative justice programming aligned with school goals; collaborate with Dean of Students to integrate these practices into school discipline policies.
  • Professional Development : Provide coaching and PD for staff on restorative principles relationship-building strategies and culturally responsive trauma-informed practices.

Systems Referrals & Discipline

  • Referral Management : Execute the student referral process according to the school vision including reflections check-ins and restorative back-to-class activities.
  • Sanctions & Restoration : Lead and supervise Lunch Reflection (LR) After-school Reflection (AR) and Saturday School (behavioral academic and attendance make-ups) including setup list generation and tracking.
  • BIPs & Scorecards : Support the design implementation and monitoring of Individual Student Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and student scorecards.
  • Data & Compliance : Follow protocols for incident follow-up disciplinary record keeping and suspension logging. Collect and analyze discipline and climate data to inform equity-focused interventions.
  • Campus Supervision & Safety

  • Active Supervision : Provide regular and consistent supervision during arrival homeroom passing periods lunch bathrooms and dismissal to ensure a safe environment.
  • Modeling Excellence : Model exemplar campus supervision and provide feedback to staff on student expectations and campus safety.
  • Uniforms & Logistics : Support strong execution of uniform expectations.
  • Operational Support : Ensure daily Deans Office checklist tasks are completed and sub for other team members as needed to ensure smooth campus functioning.
  • Family & Community Engagement

  • Relationship Building : Develop trusting authentic relationships with students families and staff.
  • Communication : Facilitate family meetings and maintain a positive ratio of contact with parents keeping accurate records of all conversations.
  • Partnerships : Partner with community organizations to support restorative processes and student needs.
  • Professionalism & Growth

  • Collaboration : Work closely with administrators counselors social workers and teachers to address student needs.
  • Solutions-Orientation : Propose evidence-based solutions when identifying problems rooted in the schools mission.
  • School Events : Attend and participate in Back to School Night Parent / Teacher conferences Grade Level Meetings and Summer / Weekly Professional Development.
  • Technology : Utilize school-based platforms and educational technology for communication and program planning.

  • Collaborate with staff and leadership to continuously improve practices and address student needs effectively.

  • Develop trusting authentic relationships with students and their families.
  • Create and maintain a joyful safe structured and engaging school and classroom culture.
  • Demonstrate passion for the content area you coach.
  • Encourage students to take risks and learn from their mistakes and create opportunities for students to leverage the power of their voice.
  • Supervise and engage with students in-person to ensure student safety and learning.
  • Uphold and model core values including purpose perseverance productivity growth mindset integrity leadership joy gratitude mindfulness and kindness.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties or responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.
  • Participate in the performance evaluation process which is based on adherence to the outlined responsibilities and qualifications.
  • PUBLIC SCHOOL EMPLOYMENT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Earned Bachelors Degree.
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check through the Department of Justice.
  • Obtain a negative TB reading prior to starting employment.
  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Earned a Bachelors degree
  • At least two years of teaching experience in a K-12 educational setting.
  • You have experience monitoring and analyzing data to inform best practices.
  • You are an excellent written and oral communicator.
  • You are professional warm and collaborative with students families and colleagues.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    This full-time and on-site position requires sufficient mobility to report to campus work in an office and engage with students families and colleagues with or without reasonable accommodations. The role may involve light lifting pushing / pulling standing sitting and bending for extended periods. Success in this role requires working well under pressure meeting deadlines and adapting to stressful and unpredictable environments. The employee must effectively prioritize and organize tasks while maintaining open and respectful communication with families and community members using school platforms and technology. Attendance and active participation in school-wide events professional development sessions and other assigned meetings are essential.
