Robert Half is actively recruiting for a strong Accounting Manager / Consultant for Utilities company client. The consultant’s primary responsibilities will be supporting the accounting team with month end close, booking journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, doing flux analysis and complex accounting entries. In addition, the consultant will need to have a strong understanding of GASB accounting (preferred). This role will be located onsite in Chino, CA.

Technical Skills :

• Payroll reconciliation (sick, vacation, accruals) and validating the account balances
• Capital projects (depreciation, additions, disposals)
• Strong month end close experience (Booking entries, Reconciliations, critical thinking skills)
• Analyze monthly financial statements’ actual to budget and balance sheet flux analysis
• Support external audit if needed
• SAP and GASB experience (Big Plus)
• Heavy Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, large data sets)
• Extensive experience in month-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Proficient in performing balance sheet account reconciliations and flux analysis.
• Strong understanding of complex financial transactions, including bonds, loans, and debt covenants.
• Ability to interpret contracts and apply accounting principles effectively.
• Familiarity with accounting for capital projects, including depreciation and disposals.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and handling large datasets.
• Previous experience supporting external audits and ensuring compliance.
• Background in utilities or infrastructure accounting is highly desirable.
