Direct Counsel is seeking a Patent Agent to join a well-regarded law firm's Intellectual Property group. This position offers the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution.
About the Role:

The firm is actively recruiting a skilled Patent Agent with expertise in electrical engineering, software, computer science, or related fields to assist with patent preparation and prosecution. This role involves working on cutting-edge technologies, including AI and machine learning, and provides the opportunity for professional growth in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications related to electrical, software, and computer science technologies.
• Conduct prior art searches and analyze patentability.
• Assist in developing patent strategies for clients.
• Work closely with inventors, engineers, and in-house counsel to secure intellectual property rights.
• Stay current with technological advancements and legal developments in patent law.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
• Experience with AI and machine learning patents is preferred.
• Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a client-focused, team-oriented environment.

Work Environment & Compensation:

• Hybrid work schedule (2-3 days in-office on average).
• Competitive salary range of $110,000-$180,000, with actual compensation based on experience, location, and qualifications.
