Your impact
Jacobs is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Highway/Roadway) to join our Transportation team in Hawaii in the Summer of 2026, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients' challenges locally and worldwide.
This is an exciting opportunity for you to gain hands-on experience in large-scale infrastructure projects and apply your academic knowledge to real-world transportation engineering challenges. You will assist our team in various aspects of highway/roadway design and learn about industry-standard procedures and software.
Project opportunities may include supporting the design of interstate highways, freeway interchanges, and major arterial roads. Opportunities may also include supporting projects regarding coastal resiliency, sea-level rise, and vulnerability assessments. You'll work alongside experienced Scientists, Engineers, and Project Managers, gaining valuable insights into transportation engineering.
Your Responsibilities May Include:
•Assist in basic highway/roadway design calculations, GIS and permitting efforts, and coastal resiliency planning.
•Help prepare technical reports and design documentation
•Participate in traffic analysis and capacity studies for highways/roadways
•Participating in project meetings
•Collaboration with environmental scientists, utility locates, and surveyors to meet stringent requirements and address maintenance and improvement needs.
Here's what you'll need
•In pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
•Completed coursework related to transportation engineering or highway/roadway design
•Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future
•A member of SWE and attendance at SWE25 National Conference in New Orleans, LA
Ideally, You Will Have
•3.0 GPA
•At least a rising Junior
•Experience with engineering calculation software (e.g., SKM, ETAP)
•Knowledge of and experience using CADD/Design software (preferably Microstation/OpenRoads/AutoCADD)
•Proficiency in CAD software, preferably AutoCAD and Revit
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Ability to work effectively in a team environment
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
Posted Salary Range: Minimum 40,000.00 Posted Salary Range: Upper 65,200.00

The base salary range for this position is $40,000.00 to $65,200.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
