Position Title: Mill Environmental Manager

Reports to: Vice President, Environmental Affairs (dotted line to Mill General Manager)

Salary Range: $105k – 120k plus Incentive Pay

FLSA: Exempt

Job Description:

The Mill Environmental Manager’s core responsibility is to ensure compliance at the mill and assist at collocated facilities as needed. This individual will work with Corporate to determine impact of regulatory changes, manage permit renewals, obtain new permits as needed, and ensure that facilities comply with environmental laws, regulations, policies, and procedures while supporting facility efforts and goals for safety, production, and budgets.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure facility compliance with Federal, State, District, and local environmental laws, regulations, and site-specific permits.
• Participate actively in facility production meetings and facility outages.
• Participate, as needed, in daily facility production requirements.
• Integrate environmental requirements into business operating practices, procedures, and decisions.
• Provide technical permitting, permit compliance, environmental, and regulatory support to facility management and engineering personnel. Knowledge of Federal and various State requirements for air permitting, air permit compliance reporting, wastewater permitting and reporting, stormwater permitting and compliance, and EPCRA (Tier II and TRI) reporting required.
• Monitor environmental laws and regulation changes, facility changes, and permit renewals for impacts to operations. Subsequently, implement actions to maintain compliance through permitting, plan development and implementation, or operational controls as needed to ensure continued compliance of the facility.
• Assist facility management in resolution of environmental issues and, if needed, response to environmental agencies.
• Provide environmental training to facility personnel and maintain records for regulatory compliance or as specific plans require. Example: stormwater pollution prevention plan training, inspections, or sampling/testing as required
• Keep environmental management information system updated. Assist with input of new regulatory or environmental plan task updates.
• Assist with internal self-assessments at the facility. Drive completion of corrective actions to ensure facility compliance.
• Perform facility personnel training to meet environmental regulatory requirements.
• Assist or direct RPTA sampling, program adherence, and work with mill personnel to ensure compliance with the program.
• Assist with other assignments as assigned by Mill GM or Corporate Environmental personnel.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in a technical field.
• 10 years’ experience working within an industrial facility in an environmental role, environmental regulatory agency, or as an environmental consultant.
• Excellent time management skills, self-motivated and self-directed.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preference will be given to those:

• With 5 plus years’ experience.
• With paper mill, corrugating facility, and/or packaging experience.
