Summary :

The Manager, Integrations will provide technical direction and administrative support for the daily operational activities of a team of Contexture's Technical Integration Solution Managers. This individual will provide back-up support to the team during staffing outages and high demand periods. The role will ensure system integrity, compatibility, standardization, and security of interfaces while mentoring, leading the team in best development practices, and contributing with a level of professionalism proper to a lead role using the deep knowledge gained through education and experience. The role is responsible for release management who plans, schedules, and coordinates software releases, ensuring delivery on time and with high quality. The Manager, Integrations will report to the Director, Integrations, and interact with other Contexture teams and clients.

This position is based in Phoenix Arizona; Denver Colorado; or Grand Junction, Colorado and requires local residency in one of these base locations. Our strategic flexibility allows for local work from home opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following :

  • Provide positive leadership, daily supervision, and management of a team supporting various interface engines and interfaces.
  • Drive integration approaches, efforts, and decisions to maximize efficiency, supportability, scalability, and security.
  • Coordinate with the other Contexture department leads to ensure that all HIE / HIT services are delivered on time, error-free and that they meet organizational and customer service expectations.
  • Effectively manage team staff recruitment, hiring, training, creating on-boarding plans, mentoring, procedures, departmental practices, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and staffing recommendations.
  • Demonstrate initiative in developing operational goals, personal goals, and leadership development programs for team members that align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Serve as a technical expert for internal and external stakeholders as it relates to Contexture interface and interoperability solutions, HL7 Standards, integration architecture, with the ability to make, stand by and support decision making.
  • Ensure standards are met and followed, when applicable, for any implementations or deployments.
  • Focus on continual service improvement efforts and help to promote efficiency in the Integration Team's tools and processes.
  • Ensure interface staff assignments and allocations are maintained, up-to-date, equitable and promote common methodologies, procedures, and best practices across all projects (communications, task / timeline management, issue management, risk management, quality assurance, etc.).
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures which foster and sustain best practices for the department and group's repeatable implementation methodologies, including providing technical voice to requirements, developing implementation guides and interface specifications, implementation plans, and transitioning new products and projects to operations.
  • Conduct regular team and individual staff meetings to maintain open communication and share information.
  • Adhere to change enablement and promote the effective utilization of Change Enablement across the team.
  • Provide positive leadership through collaboration with staff resources and peers in knowledge sharing, problem solving, and negotiating process changes, priority planning, or resources across teams.
  • Maximize team's capacity, reduce single points of failure, and expand individuals' knowledge through cross-training and developing skillsets within the current team.
  • Assist team members in interpreting scope and evaluating risks for complex projects.
  • Create and manage team goals and performance metrics based on Contexture's overall annual goals and KPIs.
  • Require employees to exhibit technical knowledge and effective skill education related to their job.
  • Lead, plan, schedule, estimate, forecast, and direct delivery of all IT deliverables which may include managing and scheduling tasks of other technical resources.
  • Lead and drive participant commitment and collaboration to meet all HIE interface specification requirements and Gold Standards to alleviate defects in future project phases and post-production.
  • Effectively self-manage through difficult and demanding situations with clear and timely decision making and incisive and creative problem solving.
  • Provide leadership in the development of a repeatable HIE implementation methodology and artifacts for Contexture's Integration team.
  • Develop and manage release schedules, track progress, and recommend allocation of appropriate team resources across different phases of the release cycles.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with software releases, including developing rollback plans.
  • Ensure software has been fully tested, in coordination with and with sign off by QA, and meets quality standards through performance testing, final quality checks, and versification before release.
  • Oversee the deployment process of the production environment, ensuring a stable and seamless transition.
  • Facilitate communication between teams, inform stakeholders about release checkpoints, and provide status reports.
  • Optimize release processes, implement automation where possible and drive continuous improvement in software delivery lifecycle.
  • Effectively transition between opposing technical discussions.
  • Provide leadership on Contexture application change requests due to vendor and participant needs or upgrades, which requires vendor information system knowledge / experience.
  • Maintain, enhance, and broaden knowledge and skills related to integration tools, applications, and industry best practices.
  • Provide first-hand, expert-level assistance to the Integration, Application Development, PMO, and Service Desk for technical issues.
  • Must be available for after-hours work, outside of normally scheduled hours, in response to major incidents, deployment needs off hours times, or other items.
  • Build and foster healthy teams.

Skills

  • Mentoring and leading a diverse team of integration professionals.
  • Demonstrable skill with SQL, Mongo, API, XML, SOAP, HL7, CCD-A, XDS.b, XCA, JavaScript, Mirth Connect, Connexion, and / or other healthcare integration engines.
  • Strong working knowledge with interface engines like Mirth Connect, Nexus, Connexion, or equivalent and understanding of the concepts for filtering, mapping HL7 messages and troubleshooting.
  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare clinical codes sets such as LOINC, SNOMED, CPT, ICD, etc. required.
  • Functional knowledge of networking and connectivity types (i.e., VPN, TCP / IP, SFTP, Web Services, API, HISP, iHE profiles), FHIR, a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite, MS Visio, and MS Project, HL7Spy or other HL7 applications, Notepad++ or other XML applications, and Gliffy
  • Excellent experience managing healthcare interoperability projects, processes, and associated technologies and healthcare workflows.
  • Vendor-facing experience gathering requirements, analyzing needs, and creating a plan to address their needs.
  • Outstanding professionalism and communications skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels of an organization, including executive suite.
  • Excellent communication skills to support need to convey interface issues and potential solutions.
  • Proven leader of high-performing, dynamic, and diverse teams.

  • Receives general assignments with few instructions and operates without the need of direct supervision.
  • Experience in design and development of interfaces and / or interoperability solutions for healthcare IT products, preferably HIE or Electronic Health Record Systems

  • Excels at working in a rapidly changing environment where processes may not always be defined; not afraid to learn as you go and work autonomously with little direction at times.

  • Education / Experience

  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in healthcare systems and technology and multifaceted experience in software systems implementation.
  • 5+ years of technical team management and 6+ years of experience with integrating HL7, XML / CDA or other health information messaging systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field required; or equivalent of 8+ years IT project management experience in healthcare working with external customers.
